How Matchmaking Works in World of Tanks
Premium tanks with limited MM
In December last year we outlined that would be a big year for the matchmaker. That's definitely true, because we've got some big changes coming to its current architecture. Over the past two years, the ratio of vehicles has changed significantly. At the same time, the queue is very dynamic and changes literally every second. This is not only due to the natural evolution of our game, the queue is affected by some additional in-game factors that increase the workload on the queue, for example:. But the templates in the current matchmaker architecture are strict, so they cannot quickly adapt to the queue evolution. So, many players today are more often at the bottom of the list, and this is the most important thing we want to change.
The KV-1 is one of the most popular tanks in the game. Its thick armor, generous gun selection, and easy-to-learn play style make it one of the best starter tanks and allow it to easily dominate in the hands of a skilled player. In real life, the KV-1 was designed to spearhead assaults against heavily defended areas. It was nearly invulnerable to enemy guns during its time and retains this feature in World of Tanks.
Heavy tanks are large, heavy vehicles which often act as a team's vanguard. They are represented by a three-piece green or red diamond on the mini-map and over their respective target marker. Heavy tanks are generally the most well armored vehicles in the game and usually have more firepower than light tanks and medium tanks of their tier, though tank destroyers and artillery still have more alpha damage. Their heavy armor and guns come at the cost of poor speed and maneuverability, which leave poorly-positioned heavy tanks prone to flanking by smaller, faster types of vehicles.
